Soil Judging

Members of the Triad FFA chapter competed in the Champaign County Soil Judging Career Development event on September 16. The FFA chapter is part of Ohio Hi-Point’s Agriculture satellite program at Triad High School.

In the rural contest, students evaluated soil for agricultural properties to determine whether the soil was suitable for growing agricultural crops. The Triad-OHP FFA Chapter placed third in the contest overall. Gage Phillips placed eighth, Joe Williams placed 14th, Thomas Ford placed 17th, Evan Culp placed 18th, Holden LeVan placed 19th, and Jesse Bailey placed 30th.

Students also competed at the District Soil Judging Career Development Event in Marion County on September 28. The FFA Chapter placed 10th overall out of 18 competing chapters. Jesse Bailey placed 36th, Gage Phillips placed 47th, Thomas Ford placed 50th, Holden LeVan placed 55th, and Joe Williams placed 73rd.
