Ohio Hi-Point students had a strong showing at the Ohio SkillsUSA State Competition last month. Ohio Hi-Point students placed in eight categories, taking Gold in four events.

SkillsUSA is the largest Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) in Ohio, serving a variety of career fields including construction, art, business, education, finance, government, heath, manufacturing, marketing, and transportation.

Ohio Hi-Point students London Burner (Marysville) and Rivvyn Café (Graham), who are part of the Graphic and Media Arts Academy, took Gold in Digital Cinema Production.

Liam McConaha, an Engineering Academy student from Marysville High School, took Gold in Technical Computer Application.

Samuel Combs, Bailey Magnuson, and Matthew Richards earned Gold in the Career Pathways Showcase (Industrial and Engineering). They are enrolled in Ohio Hi-Point’s Aviation satellite program at Grimes Airfield.

 Alicia Kolker, a Cosmetology student from Graham High School, earned Gold in Barbering.

 Graphic and Media Arts Academy students Ian Wiant (Graham) and Hannah Westfall (Mechanicsburg) earned silver in Audio/Radio Production.  

Kaylee Shafer (Engineering Academy), Sadie Shellenberger (Engineering Academy), Victoria Blanks (Cosmetology), Angelina Arthur (Cosmetology), Keleigh Smith (Cosmetology), Angela Kep (Cosmetology), and Katie Driscol (Engineering Academy), earned bronze in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Andy Pepper, an Engineering Academy student from Riverside High School, earned Bronze in Electronics Technology.

Kamryn Ridge, Kayla Wilson, Kaitlyn McMurrough, who are part of OHP’s Digital Design satellite program at Benjamin Logan, earned Bronze for Promotional Bulletin Board.


 Qualifying students will compete at the National SkillsUSA competition in May.
