Ohio Hi-Point Career Center student Emilie Alcorn (Animal Science, Graham) earned first place in the Clark State College Research Essay Contest for her essay, “Schizophrenia and Its Complexities.”
The contest is open to all Clark State students, including those enrolled in College Credit Plus (CCP) courses. Emilie is currently taking CCP English with Mrs. Young.
As the first-place winner, Emilie received a $100 award, will have her work published in Voices of the Valley, and will be recognized at an awards banquet in April.
“I’ve always been interested in mental health and wanted to shed light on the stigmas of schizophrenia,” said Alcorn.
Emilie plans to attend Ohio Wesleyan University this fall, where she will major in Zoology.
