board of education

The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Board of Education welcomed new members and elected new leadership during its recent Organizational and Regular Board meetings.

Their appointments come as Ohio Hi-Point celebrates Board Appreciation Month, recognizing the service, leadership, and commitment of board members who help guide career-technical education and workforce development for students.

During the organizational meeting, the board elected Matt McConnell as the Board of Education president and Alyssa Thompkins as the Board of Education vice president.

Superintendent Brad Richardson expressed appreciation for the board’s leadership and service.

“We are thankful for our outgoing board members and their years of dedication to Ohio Hi-Point,” Richardson said. “We are also excited to welcome our new board members as we continue expanding opportunities for students. Strong board leadership is critical as we work to meet growing student interest and workforce demands in our communities.”

The board also approved the hiring of Garmann Miller as architect for upcoming campus projects. Planned renovations include renovating a building on campus to be a second cosmetology program and expansion of the welding program, both driven by significant student waitlists and high demand from local industry partners.

OHP Campus students Richiona Burnell, Cosmetology, Bellefontaine High School, and Hannah Volp, Heavy Equipment, Graham High School, were recognized as the January Students of the Month.
