Students from the OHP/Kenton Business Professionals of America chapter competed at the BPA Regional Competition on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Ohio Northern University, earning multiple top finishes and qualifying 18 students for the BPA State Leadership Conference.

Competing against students from across the region, the OHP/Kenton BPA chapter advanced qualifiers to the state conference, which will be held in Columbus in March.

“The scale of these competitions and the preparation required is immense,” said BPA advisor Wes Goldsmith. “Seeing our students rise to the occasion and perform at such a high level is incredibly rewarding. They put in a tremendous amount of work, and it shows in these results.”

The following students qualified for the BPA State Leadership Conference:

·       Presley Wilson — First place, Business Law and Ethics; fourth place, Medical Coding

·       Karyn Hopkins — First place, Computer Modeling

·       Anden Goldsmith — First place, Entrepreneurship; second place, Business Law and Ethics

·       Visual Design Team (CJ Newberry, Jaycob Francis, Emori Criner, Anden Goldsmith) — First place

·       Computer Animation Team (Jackson Blue, Wade Manns, Jaycob Francis, Zane Styer) — First place

·       Brady Cole — Second place, Fundamental Desktop Publishing

·       Jamison Clark — Second place, Fundamentals of Web Design

·       Lynzze Michel — Second place, Extemporaneous Speech

·       Garraden Wirbel — First place, Extemporaneous Speech; second place, Medical Coding

·       Emori Criner — Second place, Health Research Presentation

·       CJ Newberry — Third place, Fundamental Desktop Publishing

·       Kaylee Barlow — Fifth place, Fundamental Accounting

“We are incredibly proud of how these students represented our chapter,” said BPA advisor Zac Goldsmith. “Their dedication and professionalism were evident throughout the competition, and we’re excited to see what they accomplish at the state level.”
