Ohio Hi-Point Career Center is offering a new one-year Fire Level 1 program for incoming seniors, preparing students for careers in emergency services through hands-on training, industry credentials and a direct college pathway.

Designed as a 156-hour program, Fire Level 1 introduces students to fire suppression, search and rescue operations, hazardous materials response and emergency vehicle operation. Students train with ladders, tools, power equipment and fire trucks while learning how fires behave in structures and how to respond safely and effectively.

The program meets the NFPA 1001 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications and is offered through a partnership with Clark State College. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to continue into Clark State’s Level 2 fire training program.

Credentials available through the program include the Hazardous Materials Operations Level Certificate and Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) certification.

Students must be at least 17 years old to enroll. The program is open to incoming seniors seeking a one-year career pathway with strong workforce demand and opportunities for continued education.
