These three programs make up the Public Safety Academy, which will accept 50 students each year, and offers a foundational public safety curriculum during a student’s junior year. During a student’s senior year, they choose a focus area: Criminal Justice, EMT, or Fire Level I.
In the Criminal Justice pathway, students will earn their:
OC/Pepper Spray
Taser Certification
ASP Baton Certification
In the EMT pathway, students will earn their:
Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of EMS: EMT - Basic
The Fire Level I program is taught by Clark State College and leads directly into Clark State’s Fire Level II program. Students in the Fire Level 1 program will earn their:
Hazardous Materials Operations Level Certificate
CEVO - Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification
“This new space will allow us to have all our public safety programs together in one area,” said Superintendent Brad Richardson. “We’ve seen strong community support and a need for local EMTs, firefighters, and law enforcement officers. We’re thankful to our partners for their continued support and look forward to having this new space for students to collaborate and learn together.”
The building will include:
Individual classroom spaces for each program
A designated fitness area
Spacious locker rooms
Large bays for EMS and fire vehicles.
There will also be enough space around the building where students can practice maneuverability skills and simulated training exercises.
The building is expected to open in Fall 2026.
