Students in the Ohio Hi-Point/Marysville Media Arts program attended the Dayton Dragons Sports Marketing Day, where they heard from team executives and broadcasters about careers in sports and media.
Speakers included Tom Nickols, broadcaster; Brandy Guinaugh, executive vice president and manager; John Wallace, vice president of operations; Eric Deutsch, executive vice president; Andrew Hayes, vice president of partnerships; and Carl Hertzberg, director of group sales.
The presenters emphasized the importance of networking, taking advantage of every opportunity, and practicing interview skills. They encouraged students to build strong portfolios, refine their resumes, and use creative skills such as graphic design, video production, and marketing to stand out in the industry.
Students also toured the ballpark, operated equipment, and practiced running a broadcast booth, gaining hands-on experience in sports marketing and broadcasting.
The OHP/Marysville Media Arts is an Ohio Hi-Point Career Center program located at Marysville High School. The program is taught by Amanda Blackburn.
