BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio – As the new school year approaches, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center is excited to welcome all new and returning students to a Student Orientation on Wednesday, August 6, from 12-5 p.m. This event is designed to ensure a smooth start to the school year by providing students and families with essential information and resources.
With approximately 750 students enrolled – a record high – Ohio Hi-Point is asking families to attend during the times listed below to ensure everyone has ample opportunity to ask questions and get the information they need. Those with last names starting with A-J are asked to attend between 12-2:30 p.m. Those with last names starting with K-Z are asked to attend between 2:30-5 p.m.
During Orientation, students will pick up their class schedule and uniform (please note that Final Forms must be completed prior to attending). Student drivers should bring their driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of auto insurance to register for a parking pass. Students will also receive their laptops and can get help with any technology-related questions. The school nurse will be available to discuss any special medical considerations, and counselors will be on hand to assist with any schedule or course-related questions.
All students must complete Final Forms before attending Orientation. Even if a student has already completed forms for their partner district, they must still create a separate OHP account using their Ohio Hi-Point email address.
To help new students adjust to campus, Ohio Hi-Point uses a staggered start to the school year. First Day for New Students is Wednesday, Aug. 14. All students, new and returning, will be on campus on Thursday, Aug. 15.
This school year, OHP is introducing a hybrid block schedule to give students more in-depth time in both career programs and academic classes. Students will use the first few days of school to learn the new schedule and get comfortable with the routine.
Ohio Hi-Point’s school day starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.
OHP's partner schools are aware of Ohio Hi-Point's start day and time, and bus transportation is provided to and from Ohio Hi-Point's campus. For questions on transportation, please contact the transportation department at your partner school.
