Despite the rain, nearly 200 runners and walkers turned out for the Hi-Point Hustle for Hodge on Saturday, May 3, raising $4,500 for the Chloe Hodge Scholarship Foundation.
Organized by Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Health Careers Academy and Exercise Science students, the third annual event was renamed this year in honor of Chloe Hodge, a former Ohio Hi-Point and Indian Lake student who passed away in a car accident last school year. Hodge was known for her compassion, dedication to healthcare, and willingness to help others.
“The students wanted to dedicate this year’s race to Chloe and we’re incredibly proud of them for wanting to honor her, and for their hard work to organize this year’s race,” said Megan Lacher, Health Careers Academy instructor at Ohio Hi-Point.
The event included a 5K run/walk and a 1-mile kids fun run, beginning and ending on Ohio Hi-Point’s Bellefontaine campus. Participants of all ages showed up despite wet conditions to support the cause.
Several local businesses and organizations supported the event through sponsorships, including TCP Asset Management, Capsule, AG Boogher and Son Inc., Hurley Farms, Duff Quarry, Ohio Ready Mix, Zimmerman Realty, Logan Acres, High Point Home Health, Shoffstall Funeral Home Inc., Community Markets, Small Nation, Whit’s Frozen Custard, One-Eyed Cookie Lab, and Easton Water.
All proceeds benefit the Chloe Hodge Scholarship Foundation.
