Angela Kep Wins Poetry Out Loud

Angela Kep, a Cosmetology student from Ridgemont, won the 2020 Poetry Out Loud local competition in January after studying, memorizing, and reciting a poem of choice. Kep selected Beautiful Wreckage by W.D. Ehrhart. Gabe Wilson (Engineering Academy) and Jeannette Price (Education Academy) were runners-up.

After competing against 18 other students at the local level, Kep will compete at the Regional Semi-Finals taking place in Columbus in February. Poetry Out Loud encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.
