Agribusiness and Production Systems

This hands-on program makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success in the global agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources systems.

Students learn animal science and management, plant and horticultural science, food science, business management, energy systems, environmental science, and mechanical principles.

Certifications available in this program include:

  • Ohio Agribusiness - Agribusiness and Production Systems Certification

  • Grain Grading License

  • OSHA-10

  • Elanco Fundamentals of Animal Science Certification

  • Elanco Veterinary Medial Applications Certification

  • BASF Plant Science

Aviation

Students learn the principles of flight, navigation, weather, aircraft design and construction. Students will explore each of the principles through study and hands-on experiments. Students use CAD software and 3D printing technology along with Aircraft Flight Simulation Trainers. Those enrolling at Grimes Airfield also have the opportunity to work with real aircraft at a working airports. Students will repair sheet metal, paint, weld, machine, grind, rivet, recover, sew, form, punch, dill, troubleshoot and assemble aircraft parts and components onto real flying aircraft. Students will study Flight and Ground operations and participate in the restoration of a historic WWII B-17 and other vintage aircraft.

Certifications that are available through a capstone include:

  • Remote Pilot Certification (14 CFR Part 107)

  • Private Pilot Ground School Certification

  • Private Pilot Certification.

Build It Workshop

Are you interested in hands-on courses learning about basic skills that can be used in everyday life? Students will be challenged to become a doer and a thinker by designing and building exciting hands-on projects from wood and other materials. The Build It Workshop classes will provide you an exciting and dynamic place to be creative and explorative. Gain confidence while building project pieces and developing crucial life skills.

Students can earn their OSHA-10 certification.

Business and Administrative Services

Students prepare for careers in various business disciplines across a variety of industries such as business management, human resources, operations management, distribution and logistics, supply chain and legal or medical office management. Hands-on experiences include running the coffee shop, The Daily Grind, at Graham High School.

Courses include:

  • Business Foundations

  • Management

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Marketing

  • Digital Marketing

Students can earn certifications in Google Adwords, Google Analytics as well as leadership certifications through Six Sigma.

Family and Consumer Sciences

Students explore careers and develop a career plan and develop personal attributes that contribute to healthy families, community involvement, and workplace productivity. With a variety of courses to choose from, students will develop knowledge of food and nutrition to make informed choices that support safe, affordable and sustainable food practices, and budget for personal or family needs.

Depending on the class, students can earn the following certifications:

  • CPR/First Aid

  • ServSafe Certifications

  • Leadership Excellence

Every student in FCS is part of FCCLA and have the opportunity to strengthen leadership skills by competing throughout the year.

Interactive Media

Students gain the necessary skills to create, design, and produce interactive media products and services, including audio/visual commercials for businesses, training, entertainment, communications, and marketing. Students develop mobile apps and web pages, plan and create graphics, utilize programming languages, and repair and troubleshoot computers. There are several opportunities for hands-on projects as students complete work for local businesses and organizations.

Students can also earn certifications in:

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Adobe Photoshop

  • Adobe InDesign
