Career and College Readiness Night

Ohio Hi-Point is a great stepping stone to becoming career and college ready. Be aware of all your options after high school and understand the opportunities and resources available to you before important deadlines sneak up on you and your family. 

Set yourself up for success by attending our first Career and College Readiness Night on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 3-7:30 p.m. during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Before or after meeting with OHP teachers, attend quick 30 minute sessions and speak with knowledgeable professionals about a variety of topics to prepare for the “what’s next” after graduation. 

Food is being catered from Iron City (wings) and is made possible thanks to the sponsorship of Honda Logistics North America.

Session descriptions, times, and locations:

Discovering OHP School-to-Work Opportunities: Does your student want to get on the job training, jump start a potential career, leave campus during the day to go to work and earn while he or she learns? Then this session is for you! Hear Mr. Newland, School-to-Work Coordinator discuss all the benefits of your student joining our School-to-Work program and offering tips and tricks to preparing for a job interview.

Session Times:

3:30-4 p.m.

4:30-5 p.m.

5:30-6 p.m.

 

Financial Aid:  A Clark State financial aid representive will share information about FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), answer financial aid questions and discuss different loan options for different case scenarios.

6-6:30 p.m.

 

Visiting Colleges, Completing College Applications and Applying for ScholarshipsOhio Hi Point School Counselors, Mrs. Gonglik and Mrs. Gessler, will present parents and students information concerning Senior Year College Bound Calendar and Checklist, Ohio Graduation Requirements, ACT Dates, and resources to aid in scholarship hunting and career/college navigating.

Exploring Military Options:  Military representatives from different branches will be here to share about advantages of enlisting into the military as an option for future career advancement and paying for college.
