Program Description
Students in this program are preparing for careers in the animal industry. While the emphasis is on companion animals, students learn equine and wildlife management through classroom instruction and study trips. Students operate a grooming salon and animal breeding program on campus and participate in many off-campus programs that expand their knowledge and experience in working with animals.

Post-Secondary Options
Many students continue their education in 2-year technical or community college Vet Tech programs. Job placement through the School-To-Work program allows students to get a jump start on their career before graduating.
Students will become members of FFA, a career-technical student organization. This develops their leadership skills and allows them to compete in career developments events such as: Animal, Aquarium, Wildlife and Equine Management, Nature Interpretation, Job Interview, and Animal ID and Grooming.
College Partnerships/Articulation Agreements:
  • Pursuing an articulation agreement with Columbus State Community College in the area of Veterinary Technology

  • FFA
    • In 2009, the FFA chapter received a total of 4 individual state awards and 3 state team awards in a variety of events.
Academic Preparation Needed Before Entering Program:
  • Biology
  • Algebra I or higher level math
